HOME Method went through a BIG revamp in late 2021, and so I want to share with you what’s inside, and who it really helps, so you can know if it’s a good fit for you or not.
Let’s dive in.
The HOME in HOME Method is actually an acronym. It stands for Heart, Organised, Mentored and Empowered.
That’s because I believe the key to creating a home that works for you, whether you’re building or renovating – and having an enjoyable successful project – comes from a combination of those four key things.
Heart, Organised, Mentored, and Empowered. Let me briefly run through this for you, so you can remember this when you hear me mention “HOME Method”.
These 4 words – my 4 keys – to me, is what enables you to create a great project experience, and a home you’ll love living in when it’s all complete, and that’s worth all the effort, energy and investment you’ll be putting into it.
Now, I’ve run online programs for homeowners since late 2014, based on my now 27+ years industry experience as an architect. And right now, there’s over 3,000 homeowners who’ve jumped into Undercover Architect online courses and programs.
When I launched HOME Method in late 2020, it was the amalgamation of two signature online programs – How to Get it Right and Manage Your Build.
And since then, it’s just been brilliant to see members getting such great results from the combo of both of these programs. We’ve seen architects and designers hired, materials chosen, sites purchased, incredible views discovered, houses demolished, challenges overcome, projects commenced, and of course – homes finished and moved into. It’s all a joy to watch and be part of.
Since then, right throughout 2021, I spent a lot of time reviewing the program content, reviewing how members interacted with it, and the specific things that had developed and changed in the industry, and also in the world of online teaching and technology. And I started rebuilding the program.
In the rebuild, I wanted to ensure it’s super streamlined as an experience, and really packages up what members needed to know in the most efficient way. And that it also gives them avenues to dig deeper when they desire or their project needs it.
I also wanted to ensure it suits different methods of learning, and given how long projects can sometimes take, that the information inside was simple to review and revisit as needed.
Most people join HOME Method before they’ve begun their projects, and can then be navigating their project journey for anywhere from 12 months to three years or more. So this is not a program you just work through, complete and then move on. It’s a research tool and an execution tool – so info has to be simple to revisit and review as you go. You might be in there for a few years, and need to jump in and out loads.
I’ve done LOADS of online courses myself. Tens of thousands of dollars worth. And what I find is that, whenever I’m learning something, I’m also examining how I’m being taught the information, how it’s packaged up, and how I can navigate it as well. And, I know not all members of HOME Method are tech savvy – for some, this is their first online course ever – so it needs to be intuitive to move through step-by-step.
If you’d told me as an early graduate architect that ‘Hey Amelia, I know you’re going to be an architect, but as well as that, in 25 years you’ll be online, figuring out learning management systems’, I would have thought you were crazy! But this is where we were in 2021, and gosh, it’s epic.
As you can imagine, rebuilding was a massive effort that took far longer than I anticipated. I’m a super optimistic person and always ambitious about how quickly I’ll get things done. This definitely took longer than I had planned.
And – it was also SO awesome to do. To take all I had learned in teaching homeowners over the previous 7 years, and what I’d also learned about online learning – gosh it was so great to bring all that together, and to transform HOME Method.
I remember someone saying that the best thing you can do in business to take care of those you serve is to aim for constant improvement. So, it’s been really exciting to be taking HOME Method to a whole new level.
After months of my team and I being permanently attached to a computer and in the back end of our course website, we finally released the revamped, rebuilt version of HOME Method to our existing members late in 2021. Ta da!
It’s received great feedback, and we’ve also had a few suggestions that we’ve been able to respond to … remember, constant improvement is the aim? So, I love that our members are loving it, and it’s elevated their learning experience, and provides such a fantastic resource for their project journeys.
OK, so let me run you through what you can find inside HOME Method, so you have more information about what to expect, and what you’re jumping into when you join.
