What will it cost me to renovate or build my home?
This is one of THE MOST common questions I get asked by homeowners.
Frustrated homeowners … who …
- don’t know how to find out this information
- can’t make the decision about renovating or building until they know what the cost is
- get sick of all the wide-ranging advice they receive as an answer to this question
- just wish someone would give them a simple response!
One of the best ways to save time, money and stress on a project is to set your budget first. So – how do you do this? And just how do you determine what the cost of your project will be … before you start? Here, in this short video, I take you through my tips.

Where does money disappear in a renovation or new build? These are the key areas I see all the time.
One of the mistakes I see homeowners make, is that they forget their budget is real money. Here’s what I mean.

Hi Amilia, this is so helpful. And it makes so much sense. I had made a huge mistake in my first renovation that I relied on a “ballpark” figure from a builder and the project went over budget significantly. Now I have followed you since last year, it became clear to me that preparation and investment in understanding the renovation is the key. I think I was just lazy. Almost like taking pills to try to lose weight without exercising haha. Only understanding the exercise programs and putting in hard work will get us healthy body. I will definitely look into your courses when my second renovation gets planning stage. Thank you so much for sharing all your knowledge again.
Kind regards
Vanessa

Hi Vanessa,
You’re so welcome. Thanks so much for sharing your experience, and it’s very common. I don’t think you were lazy – just not informed about what to expect. It’s what we’re fed on reality TV, so it’s not surprising that’s how you proceeded. I’m so glad you’ve found Undercover Architect too, and hope it’s super helpful for your preparation. Look forward to having you inside the courses when the time comes too!
